American Waltham Watch Co.,Waltham, Mass., "Chronodrometer", 18 size, 16 jewels, key wind and set gilt plate movement with lever escapement and gold balance in a coin silver, engine turned hunting case and Roman and Arabic numeral, double sunk white enamel dial, serial #14787, c1860.
CONDITION:
CASE: Case has housed another movement; Dents and dings; Scratches on outer surface of case; Crudely scratched name on cuvette; Engine turning worn smooth; Rear cover with bends and distortion; Cover extends beyond 90 degrees when opened, front, 100 deg; Bow replaced; Lacks pusher for start/ stop function; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Hairlines in enamel, light, 12:00, center, 6:00, 1/4 seconds register; A few tiny flakes at edge of time dial, 1:00; Two small flakes at edge, concealed by bezel. HANDS: Incorrect replacements. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor marks and scratches; Minor spotting and discoloration; Bright work with scattered specks of oxide; Screws replaced, balance cock, one barrel bridge, case screw, balance endstone screw; Two balance endstone screws with abraded heads. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks) .
